Barking with BECKETT…
Hiya Beckett, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?
B: Sure, ruff you want to bark about?
B: R-ok.
How do you spend most of your days?
B: R-(w)ell, I r-(l)ove to curl up on the big soft doggy bed (Foster Mom calls it a couch), specially if my persons are next to me. Romping in the yard several times a day is fun and so is sniffing in the hood on a walk, when it isn’t r-one hundred (100) degrees outside. I sooo enjoy a nice siesta whenever I can. My favorite 2 paws up activity is eating!!!
What training do you have or you are working on?
B: I’ve been told that house-trained is a really good thing and I go where my persons like me to go, like in the yard. I’ve mastered the crate. I need some help on the leash – I am always trying to get to the next exciting smell and pull on walks. I run right to you when you call me and I just r (l)ove being with you. You only have to bark “sit” and I will do it on command!
Do you get along with everyone?
B: I’m too nervous around human children and really despise those felines. I’m friends with 2 girl cockers & 1 boy cocker in the family. I LOVE my Foster Mom and Dad. I’m a little insecure about other strange dogs, but as long as they give me some space and time, I think we can be good buddies.
Are there any health issues we should know about?
B: My heart is a little bigger than normal (more to love with, I say!) and I take a pill for it. My right hip sometimes makes me go “Ouch” especially when I jump. The doctor said that I’m doing very well and I need to be careful and not jump too much (he is no fun).
Tell us some of you favorite things?
B: I light up like a Christmas tree when my people come home – I can’t get enough of them. Sleeping in other beds and not my own…especially when I can snuggle with my people. Petting and attention is tops on my list. Don’t tell anyone, but I always pretend that I have an itch so Foster Mom will give me scratches under the chin or belly rubs. Soft plush toys and balls are my favorite toys. Food – I think carrots are the best treat there is. Don’t ever try to give me olives…they are yucky!
What kind of home would be best for you?
B: A “forever” home that is experienced and quiet is a perfect fit! A home with moderate activity would be fine too. No human children, they scare me. Kitties are not good around me. I look for direction from my favorite people and would love to meet you.
Tell us what your Foster family says about you.
B: I’ve been called “Bull in a china shop”. Foster Mom says I’m clumsy and don’t realize how big and goofy I am sometimes. Shhhh…all I have to do is give the “eyes” and all is forgotten. I work it with my sad face and usually get a hug anyway. If you need a navigator to help in the car, I am the best! Foster Mom is always telling everyone to make sure that any food is pushed back off the edge of the counter. I don’t know why she doesn’t want to share with me? Come on, throw me a bone! I’ve been known to jump up to get my own hugs, drool and all. If you have a lap, I want to be in it, all 38 lbs of me. Everyone needs r(l)ove right? Well, that’s what I do best!
